Defeat Diabetes Foundation

Defeat Diabetes Foundation, Inc. (DDF), established in September 1990, was incorporated on November 21, 1991 under the laws of the state of Florida as a nonprofit corporation, and is currently recognized in all 50 states.

Mission Statement

The mission of Defeat Diabetes Foundation is to inform, educate and alert the general public, diabetics, pre-diabetics and elected officials about the disease, its prevention and the consequences of undiagnosed and/or poorly managed diabetes and to provide accurate, up-to-date and practical information on the treatment and self-management of the disease.

Awareness + Action = Prevention®

Vision

The vision for the organization is to show through the actions of the Executive Director, Andrew P. Mandell - Mr. Diabetes® (and other diabetic staff members), that diabetics are neither helpless nor hopeless and can lead productive lives. DDF will provide accurate, reliable, up-to-date information about the self-management of diabetes and show how Mr. Diabetes® utilizes these techniques in his daily life to avoid the significant complications of the disease. He will put a name and face on the disease and show through his actions how to advocate for appropriate solutions to diabetic issues.
